Individual counselling and psychotherapy

Many people come to therapy because they are struggling to make sense of experiences or patterns they find repeating in their lives, whether this be in relationships with family members, partners, children, or work colleagues, or within themselves. Others come because a distressing event has occurred or a significant transition is occurring, requiring extra support and resources.

I work with people on their own developmental trajectory in short, medium and long term therapy. My work is to support the person to understand and accept who they are now, while also challenging them to expand and develop to being more in charge of their experience in future. This is achieved through creating a strong therapeutic relationship grounded in respect, curiosity and compassion in which clients can feel safe to experiment and grow. Mindfulness, attachment theory and systemic theory are all integrated with Gestalt Therapy to provide a comprehensive and personalised therapy experience dependent upon client needs. I also use cognitive behavioural strategies and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) when this is helpful to the client.

I have extensive experience working with people from a broad range of cultural backgrounds, GLBTIQ individuals and couples and people experiencing a broad range of personal struggles and/ or mental health conditions. This includes depression, anxiety, post and acute traumatic stress, post and ante- natal depression, personality disorders and psychotic disorders as well as the struggles that come with every day living – stress related to balancing work and family life, parenting, managing complex relationships with others, those in caring roles for others with chronic physical or mental health issues.
